What does a teacher do?

A teacher is someone who teaches. As a teacher, you must be able to present the subject material in a fascinating way. Additionally, the type of education and your teaching method strongly depend on the subject and the target audience. For instance, you can teach languages, technical subjects or in the field of self-development or art. The target audiences (who you teach) can vary from young kids, to adolescents in secondary school or universities to adults and working people, for instance in night school. Adolescents demand different qualities than university students or adults. In general, as a teacher, you need to have social skills (you must be passionate about teaching others something), and you must be resourceful. In higher education, you might be challenged more intellectually and in secondary school, you might have to be able to stand your ground.
