What does a process operator do?

A process operator is responsible for the entire production process. As a process operator, you supervise the machine operators. These machine operators, often simply called operators, operate the machines. Sometimes, you help them with that. For instance in case of a failure, maintenance or when a new operator needs to be trained. As a process operator, you're often looking at computer screens to keep an eye on the entire production process. The activities could also consist of setting machine and process systems, starting up equipment at the beginning of the shift, carrying out quality checks and registering process data. Additionally, safety and the environment are often important aspects of your position. In summary, that means you, as a process operator, ensure an efficient, dependable and safe course of the processes in the factories according to procedures and instructions. Where do process operators work? These are usually companies that manufacture products or liquids. For instance, at a brewery, a company that produces packaging, a company that processes potatoes into chips, a company that manufactures sauces, a company that manufactures parts for the car industry or a refinery.
